The Rockefellers

For decades, the Rockefeller name was despised in America–associated with John D. Rockefeller Sr.’s feared monopoly, Standard Oil. By the end of his life, Rockefeller had given away half his fortune–but even his vast philanthropy could not erase the memory of his predatory business practices. His only son, John D. Rockefeller Jr., would dedicate his life to recasting the family image.

In the quest for redemption and respectability, Junior would give away hundreds of millions of dollars, and would insist that his six children behave impeccably. Their contributions transformed America. When he died at age 86, Junior left his six children and 22 grandchildren an invaluable inheritance: a name which stood not for corporate greed, but for “the well-being of mankind.”

Like people of new emerging nation will. Lol

    Sorry for bad english.

  2. This is a very interesting, balanced documentary. It doesn’t pretend that the Rockefellers are evil incarnate, neither does it stop short of showing us their warts. You get a feeling, too, for the times as the Rockefeller generations come and go.

  3. here is a man that is a hard worker and one who was smart. He played by the rules. There were no laws against monopolies during his rise. The man is an American Icon. Someone has to work these days anyways, to feed those with their hands out.

  4. SCUM OF THE EARTH

  5. He died at the age of 97 and not 86 as mentioned in the description

  6. Oops. Self-dignity. I need an editor.

  7. True Capitalism means fair competition and choice for the consumers. It also means banks and corporations going bankrupt instead holding out both hands and telling the public there’ll be pandemonium unless you dumb-asses bailout us fatcats. When oil runs out, we’ll see how special John D.’s tribe are. Bet they’ll be all for renewable energy then. And the public will foot the bill for the infrastructure. Corporate Socialism is fine. But when some poor slob loses his job, his home, and his self-dinity, he’s a sorry piece-a-shit who needs to suck it up and grovel for work in the service sector at minimum wage. Have you noticed the increased suicide rate in Greece? But don’t worry, the Technocrats are going to save the little guys. Hmmm….

  8. The RF gave it all away. Bullshit from outset, they still have hand in the till and influence over their political puppets. Nothing more to see here, just lies. Watch something else..
