The issue of underage drinking is really becoming a serious one in Ireland and the UK but especially in the North East of England where the highest percentage of underage drinkers can be found, with ages ranging from as low as 11 up to 15 years of age. The film by the BBC sets about following social worker Phil Tye in his constant struggle to improve the situation and effort in preventing young teens ending up dependent on alcohol.
This was maddening and depressing, but the ending was sweet.
Where the hell are the parents? They should be keeping track of their kids and keeping them engaged with communication, guidance, responsibilities, boundaries and activities. Not Phil and his staff, (who I think are terrific!)
Why are these fucked up people having children? Step up to the plate and be a parent!!!
