BBC’s Panorama takes it upon themselves to investigate the Irish budget airline known as “Ryanair”. Ryanair is one of the fastest growing airlines, having only started with one plane back in 1985 and now has 200, flying to nearly 150 destinations in 26 different countries whilst offering customers low-cost fairs to fly, but to achieve these low prices the airline has had to sacrifice luxury and comfort. Ryanair is the airline everyone loves to hate but can’t stop using.

People hate Ryanair mostly because they feel utterly nickeled-and-dimed at every step. You think you’re getting a €20 flight, but then you’re hit with fees for slightly oversized baggage, priority boarding, and simply checking in at the airport instead of online. The lack of compassion when things go wrong is legendary, missing a flight or dealing with an emergency usually results in zero help and massive extra costs. I had a similarly frustrating customer service experience recently, though thankfully not while traveling. I was trying to cancel a newspaper delivery that stopped showing up, and had to search for https://www.pissedconsumer.com/company/richmond-times-dispatch/customer-service.html just to find a working phone number after weeks of being ignored.

I suppose Ryanair is the result of an extremely frugal view of business. Can’t hate them for taking the no frills approach to flying. That approach is certainly going well for Aldi and Lidl.
