Helvetica

Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. The film is an exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type.

Helvetica encompasses the worlds of design, advertising, psychology, and communication, and invites us to take a second look at the thousands of words we see every day. The film was shot in high-definition on location in the United States, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France and Belgium.

  5. This is one of my favorites. Interesting story about history and development of a font. Noone could predict that a typeface could become so influential.

  6. This is a very interesting documentary. I saw it several years ago, but I enjoyed watching it again. i am providing a link to this page on my blog to accompany an infographic about fonts.

  7. of course like your website however you need to check the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling issues and I in finding it very troublesome to tell the truth nevertheless I’ll certainly come again again.

  8. Thanks A LOT for the movie. I have to watch it for class but Netflix wasn’t working for me. Luckily I found it here.

  9. I’m not particularly interested in fonts, but this movie was great. I said the same thing, “How the fuck do you make a movie out of a font?” But I found out you could.

  10. Obviously this is aimed at intellectual/creative people who can ‘get’ what this is about. I got it – shame you didn’t!

  11. Man did i love this ! Its an indication of how design can pop out at you just through the addition of knowledge. I would say that Helvetica is the first truley Hyperdymencional Font..lolz

    • Nerds at 12 can scratch the surface – IGNORANT IMBECILE etc etc.
If any designer gave a fuck we’d correct the 12 year olds attempts at a home video  ….99.9% of people including you/tard could not live without design.
      lol’ing

  15. @fuckgreece, ComicSansForevabsse
You are probably as stupid as your comments are.dafdasfasdf

  16. I agree with fuckgreece, we don’t need a whole documentary about one, overlyused and overrated typeface. This is merely porn for graphic designers, that strange, uptight, profession of overly-specialized marketing dupes.

  17. I dont know how the hell they made a whole documentary on a font, its interesting but boring as fuck
